The Holy Spirit is at work building the house of God which is made up of living stones: “you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. . . But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation,” (1 Peter 2:5 and 9 NASB). The people of the Lord have been called to represent heaven here on earth. He is calling forth a people to carry out His purposes in the earth. Through His united church or “holy apostolic nation,” the nations will come to serve the Lord. We are still in the process of seeing this worked out. The warfare in which we are engaged is to bring the Lord’s people into order by living as one holy nation.

The process begins in us as individuals. Through personal surrender to Christ and to His appointed servants, we come into order through rank and file before our Lord. As mentioned in chapter three, our King intends that we fight the battle in the context of the corporate body of Christ. We need to be properly aligned with apostolic and shepherding leadership. We need the input of the prophetic who themselves are submitted to God’s appointed government. Teachers and evangelists also speak into our lives and, through God’s five-fold ministry taught in Ephesians 4, and an ordered church goes into battle in the authority of the Lord Himself. It is clear that there is still work to be done to see the church of our Lord function as He planned. It starts with us as individuals.

For centuries God has been dealing with His church. The Reformation brought light to the Lord’s people that reformed His church. The first and second great awakening in both the seventeenth and eighteenth century’s shifted Europe and America, bringing a greater impact of the gospel to society. In the early twentieth century, God poured out His Spirit releasing a world-wide move of God. Throughout the twentieth century, many moves of God have come bringing more and more unity into Christ’s body.

In the twenty-first century, God’s agenda continues as greater unity is being experienced in the Lord’s church around the world. Spiritual warfare must happen through a corporate body that is unified in purpose, filled with servant leaders, apostolic in vision, and anointed to disciple nations. The battle is not getting easier as the enemy increases his resistance. However, the battle is becoming more effective through a unified corporate body envisioned to set the nations free to serve Christ.
