There are two great judgments that lie ahead. One for the unbeliever and one for the believer. The subject of judgment was a very important piece of the message of the Good News of the Kingdom of God. Today, very little is mentioned on the subject of judgment. This is unfortunate because the full impact of what Christ has accomplished, and the impact of the message are greatly weakened by not including this last doctrine of the seven principles mentioned in Hebrews 6:1–2 which was discussed in Chapter three.
Great White Throne Judgment
The Great White Throne Judgement, which is for the unbeliever, is outlined in Revelation:
Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. And the sea gave up the dead which was in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which was in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:11–15 NASB
As you can read, this is a serious moment in the annals of time for all unbelievers. The final judgment is just that, Final! God is a “bookkeeper.” His books are accurate, and they include the sum total of what is needed to reckon absolute justice.
