God did not create evil. God did create Lucifer, an angel. Evil came as a result of Lucifer’s desire to rise above God and his revolt against God. After God cast Lucifer from heaven, Lucifer has been on a mission to destroy God’s wondrous creation.
Evil Manifested before the Creation of Mankind
We must be very careful when we look into any areas that the Bible does not say much about. There is not a lot of information about what took place before the creation of mankind. In the realm of angels, fallen angels, principalities, powers, and demons, we have relatively little information. There is, however, much speculation about these realms. Fortunately, we do have some insights. For our purpose, we will look at two areas of the Bible: Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28.
Isaiah stated that the information that followed was a proverb against the king of Babylon: “that you will take up this proverb against the king of Babylon,” (Isaiah 14:4a NKJV). Satan’s kingdom is manifested through the worlds systems, especially through oppressive governments. God had mercy on Israel when He judged Babylon for its oppressiveness against God’s people. Isaiah 14:4–11 is first directed at the king of Babylon: “Even Hell from beneath is excited about you.” (Isaiah 14:9 NKJV). Murder, stealing, rape, oppression, and control are born of hell. God used this wickedness to deal with His people in order to draw them back to God and His protection.
Then God changed the language and draws our focus to one singular evil entity: Lucifer who had had a significant position in heaven. Lucifer was called: “son of the morning” (Isaiah 14:12b NKJV). We do not know what that meant. We do know, though, that Lucifer had a significant position in heaven before the throne of God.
